Helping Babies Survive Training Courses

Become a Helping Babies Survive trainer with Project C.U.R.E.!

Description & Learning Objectives

Project C.U.R.E. in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) are offering a combined master trainer workshop: Helping Babies Breathe 2.0 Refresher Course, Essential Care for Every Baby (ECEB) and Essential Care for Small Babies (ECSB).   Once you have completed an HBS course, you will be qualified to train nurses, midwives, and other newborn care providers in resource-limited settings on the life-saving HBS course for which you have been trained.

The Helping Babies Survive (HBS) suite of training programs focuses on evidence-based curricula to improve neonatal health and reduce mortality in resource-limited countries of the world. This workshop features:  Helping Babies Breathe 2.0,  Essential Care for Every Baby (ECEB) and Essential Care for Small Babies (ECSB).

ECSB is a hands-on curriculum designed to equip healthcare providers in resource-limited settings with the skills necessary to improve care for newborns during the first days of life. Focusing on the period from birth to discharge from the birth facility, the ECEB curriculum emphasizes the assessment and monitoring of babies to promote thermal regulation, breastfeeding, and disease prevention.

ECSB teaches the special care needed for small or premature babies born in these low resource areas – so birth attendants and mothers learn how to keep them warm by skin-to-skin wrapping and keep them nourished with alternative feeding.
