There is no question that Project C.U.R.E has an outstanding global impact on health and healing. Since 2000, we have delivered $1 billion worth of medical supplies and equipment to over 135 countries around the world. 70% of impact survey respondents have reported an increase in patients served thanks to our organization.
However, none of our success would be possible without the dedication and support of our volunteers. As the heartbeat of our organization, volunteers at Project C.U.R.E play a role in every step of every process we have to deliver health and hope around the world. Project C.U.R.E volunteer Maribeth Trujillo, MS, RN, NE-BC of Littleton Adventist Hospital said it best:
“As a retired nurse, I can think of no greater use of my professional skills than serving our global community. No matter how busy my life or work gets, I am always re-energized by the hours I spend volunteering. I remember the faces of the people in underserved countries that I have been so privileged to care for. That and the mission of Project C.U.R.E. has kept me coming back for seven years.”
How Many Volunteers Does Project C.U.R.E. Have?
In 2023, Project C.U.R.E. was supported by 16,000 volunteers between our distribution centers in Chicago, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Nashville, Phoenix, and Philadelphia. From one-time volunteers who help for a 2.5 hour shift to weekly regulars, each volunteer has played a pivotal role in the success of our organization.
What is Project C.U.R.E.’s Impact?
In the last year, Project C.U.R.E. has delivered 199 containers & air cargo shipments to 47 countries, totaling $66 million worth of equipment and supplies. On average, each medical cargo shipment requires 800 volunteer hours, from organizing and checking the supplies, to boxing them up in the cargo container and sending them off. That means our volunteers have accumulated a total of 159,200 service hours for our cargo program!
But their reach has spanned across all of Project C.U.R.E’s programs:
- 4503 Kits 4 Kids were delivered to 29 countries last year.
- 52 needs assessments have been done, making more giving possible.
- A total of 38 volunteers traveled to Paraguay, India, and Cote D’Ivoire to help in our Clinics.
- Our volunteers have even contributed to providing relief and services in 10 emergency disaster situations, including Ukraine, Turkey, Syria, Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Mexico, Morocco, Malawi, and Armenia.
