C.U.R.E. Clinics - Panama
About the Trip
Join Project C.U.R.E. as we partner with FundAyuda to run our third C.U.R.E. Clinic together in Panama. Since 2010 FundAyuda has sponsored 17 containers to Panama! While working with Project C.U.R.E. you will have the opportunity to participate in a combination of mobile clinics and patient education to surrounding areas. Previous trips have taken us to the countryside of Cocle and the mountains of Veraguas.
We hope you join us as we return to Panama to support our partner in delivering health and hope to the people of Panama!
About the Country
Panama, officially called the Republic of Panama, is a country on the isthmus that links Central and South America. Panama is 29,157 square miles in size and hosts a population of 3.6 million people, nearly half of whom live in Panama City, the country’s capital and largest city. Backing from the United States allowed for Panama’s secession from Colombia in 1903 as well as the construction of the Panama Canal between 1904 and 1914, which has since become an essential shipping route linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Total transfer of the Canal from the U.S. to Panama in 1977 in conjunction with increasing growth in commerce, banking and tourism has allowed Panama to become the second largest and fastest growing economy in Central America. Panama has a rugged geography of mountains, more than 500 rivers, and tropical jungle that covers nearly 40 percent of its land area.
About the Clinics Site
The site for our 2018 Panama clinics has not yet been chosen. Our partner FundAyuda is working with the Panamanian Ministry of Health to determine where our services are needed most. The Ministry of Health will be partnering with us once again and providing personal and support to our mission. The First Lady of Panama will be sending her traveling mammogram station which will also give us access to EKG and Ultrasound. Panama is a great trip due to all of the in-country collaboration and support by local partners and government agencies!
Panama is a diverse and beautiful country with mountains, forests and ocean. Wherever we end up this year it is sure to be another great experience.
