A small cut shouldn’t change the course of a child’s life. But for many families around the world, it can. Imagine a mother watching her child scrape a knee while playing. At home, she has nothing to care for the wound. No soap, no ointment, no bandage. She knows the nearest clinic is miles away, a long walk or bus ride she can’t easily make. She waits, hoping the cut will not get worse. But without basic care, infection sets in, turning what should have been a simple wound into a serious problem.
Now, imagine a different ending. This same mother opens a backpack she was given by a local doctor. Inside are basic healthcare and hygiene items. She washes the cut, applies ointment, and covers it with a bandage. The wound heals, the infection never comes, and her child goes back to being a kid – running, laughing, and going to school — a small kit of supplies, but a large gift of health and hope.
That is the power of a Kit for Kids.
At the heart of Project C.U.R.E.’s Kits for Kids program is a simple red backpack. Each backpack is filled with essentials like fever reducers, soap, bandages, and antibiotic cream. These items give parents the tools they need to care for their children at home. Each kit is personally delivered by local doctors and nurses, who also show families how to use every item safely and effectively. This not only protects children’s health but also strengthens trust between parents and healthcare providers, building healthier communities.

Every Kit tells a story like the one above, a story of parents caring for their children, of small problems not becoming big ones. And the best part? You do not need to be a doctor or travel across the world to make it possible. Kits for Kids come to life thanks to individuals, schools, community groups, and businesses who sponsor, pack, or donate supplies. Each backpack is a powerful act of compassion, moving from your hands to the hands of a family who needs it most.

Project C.U.R.E. Kits for Kids Experience Event in Phoenix
Whether you are one person, part of a school, or a large organization, there is a way to join in. The Kits for Kids Builder program gives individuals and small groups the chance to sponsor and fill backpacks with essential supplies. The Kits for Kids Experience invites larger groups and businesses to assemble hundreds of kits during a guided event, while learning about their impact from a Project C.U.R.E. representative. Both paths give participants a meaningful way to place health and hope directly into the hands of families.
No matter how you get involved, every backpack you support carries hope across the globe, helping parents keep their children safe and healthy.
You can support Kits for Kids in three ways: sponsor and fill a backpack with supplies, join a guided packing experience with Project C.U.R.E., or donate essential items directly from the Kits for Kids packing list. Visit the Volunteer section of the Project C.U.R.E. website to learn more and take the first step.
Because sometimes the most powerful tool in healthcare is not advanced medicine or new technology, it’s a red backpack filled with hope.
