A Holiday Letter From Dr. Douglas Jackson

December 22, 2025 | Project C.U.R.E

This has been a challenging year for international nonprofit organizations. Institutions that had been stalwarts of humanitarian assistance were severely crippled or completely abolished. Traditional sources of funding disappeared within weeks. Colleagues of mine at other NGOs were forced to terminate programs and slash their workforce. As a result, people across the globe were left wondering about their futures as the world they knew suddenly changed.

Certainly, Project C.U.R.E. was not immune to these upheavals. Since 1987, we have worked to save lives and heal the sick in over 135 countries. So, any disruption in foreign assistance was bound to have an impact on our work, too. A number of our partners terminated our joint projects. That hurt. The people who were relying on our donations to improve their healthcare systems were faced instead with more insecurity.

In the face of these unexpected circumstances, Project C.U.R.E. made the decision to double down on our work. Backed by the support of friends like you, we knew that we had the resources to continue to deliver medical relief to the people who need us the most, despite the chaos around us. Rather than curtailing our efforts, we made the decision to push ahead, trusting that the financial resources would come.

The incredible news this holiday season is that together, we have been able to deliver 245 semi-truck-sized containers this calendar year. That is a record amount of medical relief, thanks to your generous support.

This is important because each of those containers represents thousands of lives impacted by our collective generosity. Specifically, our on-site Needs Assessment visits collect data on the number of people who are physically served by our recipient hospitals each year. We know that an average of 30,000 to 50,000 people are impacted by the delivery of one of Project C.U.R.E.’s containers. The donation of 245 containers provides supplies and equipment to hospitals serving over 7.5 million people.

We measure many more things in addition to the number of patients impacted, as well. The results are truly life-changing. And I hope that such a tremendous impact is an encouragement to you that, together, we can do some remarkable things for people around the world, even when times are tough.

Thanks to you, this year has also seen some incredible impact from our C.U.R.E. Clinics program. In the past twelve months, Project C.U.R.E. volunteer medical professionals traveled to Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Ivory Coast, Suriname and Uganda to care for thousands of patients.

One of the deadliest threats to women’s health is cervical cancer. Project C.U.R.E. authored a training course to teach doctors and nurses how to screen and treat women at risk of dying from this tragic occurrence. Hundreds of women have the hope of a brighter tomorrow and will live to see 2026 as a result of these interventions.

Project C.U.R.E. was quick to provide relief for the victims of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica. Our airlifts were followed by semi-truck-sized containers of medical relief to help rebuild the hospitals. Our work to save the lives of victims of violence in Ukraine continues. We have delivered millions of dollars of medical relief to people in Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia, Nigeria and other places around the world.

Today’s message is a message of hope. In the face of adversity, we can do more. In light of the challenge, we can overcome obstacles. And our “we” includes you. With your investment in the work of Project C.U.R.E., you are a part of this incredible mission, and you have an important hand in these successes over the past twelve months.

Our work continues. We know that the sadness, violence and poverty of this past year will continue to demand our attention. We also know that there will be needs that arise in 2026 that we haven’t yet imagined. And we are committed to step in to meet those circumstances together. We can make a tremendous difference, and the Project C.U.R.E. team is confident in our quest with your help.

Thank you in advance for your faithfulness and generosity. Your support is an encouragement that we will continue to change the world for the people who need it the most. Happy Holidays and a blessed New Year!

Sincerely,

W. Douglas Jackson, PhD, JD
