Amidst the stunning backdrop of Chicago’s city skyline, players recently lined up for one of the best days of beach volleyball on the shore of Lake Michigan. Project C.U.R.E.’s group of Young Professionals (YP) recruit friends and like-minded individuals to release a competitive spirit while raising money to deliver health & hope around the world. For many, this is their first introduction to the mission of delivering medical supplies internationally to those in need.
“What we're finding is that a half day of volleyball and some sunshine is more than enough to trigger a bit of inertia, even if it's just to ask whether we're doing the event again. As the event gets better, we're seeing teams coming back year after year, and who are telling us, ‘Hey! Last year we lost in the finals, but we have our eyes on the trophy this time around,’” says YP president, Jon Kinsey.
As the event grows, so do our donations. We are thrilled to announce that we raised a record-breaking $2300 during the 7th annual half-day tournament!
The money raised is enough to ship nearly 100 boxes of donated medical supplies to clinics and doctors in low-resource areas. We can only begin to imagine how many lives our Young Professionals will save with this day of fun.
Join us next year and have a chance to take the infamous trophy for a victory lap around Chicago’s nightlife!
Project C.U.R.E focuses on delivering donated medical relief to the people who don’t have access to basic first supplies like band-aids and antibiotic ointment, leading to life-altering, or ending, infections. While this life-saving work, brings joy to volunteers and staff of the Chicago Project C.U.R.E. warehouse, it can sometimes take a toll on the heart learning how innocent people without access to basic medical supplies or healthcare are forced to live. For this reason, our team, alongside the Young Professionals Board of Chicago, continues to put on an annual volleyball tournament reminding all involved the importance of fusing an important mission with a lot of fun. The much-needed funds add to the amount of medical equipment and supplies that can be delivered internationally.
