This November, the Project C.U.R.E. Kansas City Young Professionals (YP) Board & Ambassador Board gathered for a special Friendsgiving-style board social. We met to say a heartfelt “thank you” to the volunteers and leaders who carry our mission forward. I introduce you to — Friendsgiving For C.U.R.E:
As the Kansas City
Young Professionals Board, we lead through connection, collaboration, and impact. Connection to a global mission, to our Kansas City community, and to one another. Friendsgiving is a natural extension of that spirit. It’s a chance for us to pause in the middle of busy careers, family responsibilities, and full calendars and remember why we show up for Project C.U.R.E., to help deliver health and hope to communities around the world that need it most.
Throughout the year, our KC Young Professionals Board supports Project C.U.R.E. through volunteer engagement, community outreach, and philanthropy initiatives. We help host warehouse volunteer nights, assist with events and fundraisers, and serve as a pipeline of future leaders to the Ambassador Board and broader C.U.R.E. Community. Our board brings together nurses, analysts, healthcare administrators, health-based students, nonprofit professionals, and emerging leaders who are actively creating meaningful impact.
Why Friendsgiving?
Friendsgiving gives us space to celebrate that impact. During the event, we reflected on the successes of the past year, volunteer nights, and our amazing board growth! We also took the time to recognize our board members as people: the creativity they bring, the leadership they’re growing, and the relationships that make this work sustainable and fun.
Kansas City’s volunteers are at the heart of this story, and we are so proud to include the YP's in this journey. Although a newly established group - we are so excited for the potential and possibility that our work can do. Many of us are early in our careers, balancing student loans, new jobs, and growing families. Yet, we are deeply committed to showing up for something bigger than ourselves. Serving on the YP Board provides a unique space to blend professional development with purpose. We build leadership skills, expand our networks across the health and business community, and directly support an organization that changes lives globally.
For anyone in Kansas City who is curious about getting involved, Friendsgiving is a great example of what the YP Board is all about: community, service, and shared impact. Whether you’re interested in volunteering at the warehouse, attending events, or exploring board service, there is a place for you at Project C.U.R.E.
