A Project C.U.R.E. representative travels to the hospital or clinic, interviews the medical staff, completes an in-depth analysis of the current medical operations and documents the specific needs including photos and/or videos. Logistical and customs arrangements are also confirmed during this visit. The on-site Needs Assessment study ensures that the donated medical supplies and equipment will be appropriate for use by the recipient hospital or clinic, and that logistics and customs requirements can be met.
The medical supplies and equipment in the C.U.R.E. Cargo program are 100% donated. Project C.U.R.E. requests reimbursement for the costs incurred including the procurement, warehousing, preparation, shipping and delivery of the donation. On average, the reimbursement is approximately $25,000 per container, but can be more depending on location or other additional items such as electrical transformers.
Based on the Needs Assessment study, Project C.U.R.E. prepares an inventory of the donated medical supplies and equipment to be delivered in the semi-truck sized C.U.R.E. Cargo container. The recipient hospital, clinic and/or the requesting Partner will approve the inventory before the container is shipped. Project C.U.R.E. arranges the shipping details to deliver the container to the hospital or clinic.
The C.U.R.E. Cargo container will be loaded at Project C.U.R.E.’s warehouse, transported by truck, train and/or boat to the recipient. The donation is typically delivered directly to the hospital or clinic and unloaded there instead of a warehouse. Project C.U.R.E. will provide detailed instructions including the necessary paperwork for importation.
Following the delivery, a project evaluation is conducted to ensure the quality and quantify that the medical supplies and equipment meet the needs of the community. The results of the Cargo delivery are quantified to measure the outcome.
Donated medical supplies and equipment are critical components of these life-saving shipments. These items are used by local healthcare professionals to strengthen their hospitals and clinics in the developing world. By donating medical equipment or medical supplies, you’re helping us deliver international medical relief, and ultimately health and hope to the world.
